Wow! We were here about a decade ago and cannot believe it took us this long to return. The owner greeted and sat our party of 9 in such a welcoming manner! She remembered my name and then detailed some local favorites. My pastrami sandwas one of the best I have ever had. My husband's biscuits and gravy were on point. Wonderful outdoor dining as well.

The food was fantastic! The Deluxe Benedict was very well crafted, the meatloaf sandwich was gigantic and flavorful and the Cobb salad was a hit. Thanks Diane for a lovely Sunday and we will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Incredible food at a very reasonable price! The owner sat us down at our table and gave us a lovely breakdown of their menu. Everything here is made from scratch and you can taste the love they put into each and every dish. The chilaquiles were jam packed with flavor, and the banana coconut French toast was made beautifully. A lovely dessert treat.

Wonderful place to have breakfast Diane wonderful host and owner very welcoming making sure you get a great service came here on Saturday and with no hesitation had to come back on Sunday knowing I was going to a great spot and food is very good thanks you for everything Diane and servers Sincerely Daniel

Great place to have breakfast with beautiful mountain views. Good quality, locally sourced products. I had the best pancake of a lifetime. A very efficient service crew. Having an online waitlist management system would be a nice upgrade.

Great spot on the way into South Lake Tahoe - great outdoor area, really friendly staff, and delicious breakfast! Highly recommend - enjoy!

This is the first time I've got to return to the Getaway Cafe in Years, like before the pandemic restrictions. I'm staying up here at Tahoe for some down time and I waited till a weekday to come here as it's always super popular and there usually a wait for lunch. We arrived around 11am and there was plenty of parking and we got a nice table outside. Nobody was dining inside on a nice day like this. The employees here are always so polite and friendly, it looks like the like working here. Speaking of the outside, in 4 years a lot has changed. The spotty grass and gravel has been replaced my nice pavers and the outdoor dining has been expanded to the right of the entrance as well. That used to be just a waiting area. The nice commercial shade umbrellas are great and raise easy to provide complete shad coverage. Service is outstanding as I notice there is none of this not my section or table stuff going on with the servers. They all work as a team and anyone will help you out if needed. Diane, the owner has instilled this teamwork mentality in the staff and it works way better than the "not my table" thing. I can tell she's put a lot of thought in how she runs the restaurant, like the closing hour of 2pm is not "get the hell outta here at 2pm we wanna go home!" but it's you get seated till 2pm and get full service and food. This is what all restaurant should do! Also, they don't charge you for every little extra thing you request like a lot of restaurants. Oh, you want more au jus with you sandwich, that's $1.00 extra ..... not here, you can have all the little extras like salad dressing or au jus no charge! Even Onion Rings are not charged extra for! Customers HATE that penny ante charge crap, Diane figures a happy customer is a RETURN customer! Good policies here! The food, OMG, is outstanding. My fave dish here has always been the beef dip sandwich. It's been years since I had it and it's still made the way it was when I first tried it years ago. It's life changing good! Stacked high with grilled beef and fried onion strings and cheese and dipped into the wonderful au jus is like going to food heaven. Yeah, this is a $21 sandwich, but it's so worth it, and you have the Tahoe price factor too, so just be happy you're here at Tahoe! My friend had the Blackened Asian Chicken Salad for around $21 as well. It was wonderful as usual, tho a little more blackened this time than usual. I'm happy I was able to return to Getaway Cafe after all these years and happy it's still the great place it always was. Whenever I stay at Tahoe, I wanna come here at least once.

Stopped here for breakfast before a wedding. The owner sat us and greeted us and was so sweet. She designed all the menu items! The staff was so friendly. The outdoor seating was so nice. They do not have lattes or espresso. The service was so fast. We were in and out in like 40 minutes. The breakfast was really good. The eggs were cooked nicely and the bacon was perfect. This is a great spot to have breakfast.

I really enjoyed eating here. It doesn't have a ton of stuff compared to other breakfast places but the stuff they offer is very delicious. There's outdoor seating that has a little bit of shade depending on the time you go. Parking is kinda tight. Staff is friendly. We ordered a breakfast burrito, chocolate chip pancakes, ham/ eggs. They also offer lunch.

Great food, great service. Love the outdoor seating. Showed up around 11:30 on a Saturday and it was busy so it was a 20minute wait. The owner seated us as she was also working/waitressing. Very nice lady and she explained everything on the menu. Chorizo omelet was great, but we had to try the maple bacon glazed French toast and it was so good! Really need to try to coconut version next time. One thing I loved is how crispy the home fries are, most places have home fries that are not crispy. Noticed the crowd tapered off after 12 so maybe show up after if you don't want to wait too long. Great place and can't wait to come back.
